Overcoming Obstacles Takes Discipline

A Dog and His Bottled Water by Sister72on FlickrOne of the biggest hindrances to overcoming obstacles is a simple lack of discipline. Discipline is defined as training to improve strength or self-control.

I am sure you will agree that there are many obstacles in life that take a lot of strength and self-control to overcome.

Your soul (which includes your mind), and spirit will be better able to stay sharp and ready to conquer any obstacle that crosses your path when your body is also healthy.

It takes discipline to keep your body healthy.

  • A body drowsed by toxic foods will hinder your ability to overcome obstacles.
  • A body full of toxins will dull your mind and slow it down. When you need to act quickly, you may find it more difficult to make rapid decisions.
  • A body dulled by toxins will not allow your mind to think with the clarity needed for overcoming obstacles that life brings your way.

Clarity of mind is affected by the state of your body.

  • A healthy body will help your mind stay clear.
  • Creativity can only flow when your mind is clear.
  • It takes creativity to find the way to overcome all obstacles that cross your path.

Remember obstacles are meant to strengthen you and challenge you to rise to higher and greater things. Every time you overcome an obstacle in your life, you strengthen your determination to win and to succeed in life.

There are many things we can do to help ensure our body stays healthy. Some of these things though may not be very attractive. They will take discipline to carry out.

For example, if you have read the previous article (Obstacles to Maintaining the Champion Mindset) which talks about the effect that drinking water can have on the brain you may have thought: “But I don’t like drinking water”. The idea of drinking more water every day may not be very attractive at first, but if you exercise discipline and give it a try you will be pleased with the results. It will take some discipline though if you are not already in the habit of drinking a lot of water.

There so many studies available to us today about the affects of different foods on our bodies. Some of these studies do conflict with each other. However, there tends to be a general agreement among researchers that white sugar can be very damaging to our health.

Here are some interesting studies about sugar.
Dangers of sugar.
Refined sugar, the sweetest poison of all.

Even sugar substitutes are not as safe as we may think: Sugar substitutes.

You may already know about the affects of sugar on your body.

  • Yet is your diet still full of sugary foods?
  • Do you still take that morning donut that is offered at the office?
  • Do you still pop the tab on that can of coke several times a day?

A bottle of water in one hand and a can of coke in the other will not really give you the results you were hoping for.

Changing our diet can require a lot of discipline. However it is worth it when you start to feel your mind clarifying and you find yourself with a lot more energy that you used to have.

Studies on the affects of caffeine are not all negative.

  1. Negative affects of caffeine
  2. Positive affects of caffeine
  3. Pros and Cons of caffeine How Coffee Affects the Body
    Coffee and Health
  4. Caffeine may kill some skin cancer cells

It may seem that some coffee can have some positive qualities that may be helpful for our bodies. But even the positive studies reveal that excess is not good. Actually anything used in excess is not good.

It takes discipline to avoid excess in any area of our life. But it is worth it!

A balanced life is more likely to be an overcoming life.

Yes balance means you can eat that piece of cheesecake now and again and drink a cup of coffee. Just don’t overdo it. Maintain balance in your life and:

You Too Can Be A Champion!
